Earlier on Tuesday a report surfaced that suggested Microsoft’s engineers were already finished developing Office for iPad and that the application was already awaiting approval into Apple’s iTunes App Store. The story was originally published by The Daily, which said it even had a chance to play with the software, however, Microsoft responded to The New York Times Tuesday afternoon claiming that it’s simply not true.
“The Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation,” Microsoft told The New York Times. “We have no further comment.” Looks like everyone waiting to edit and create Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on an iPad will have to wait just a bit longer, for now. We’re guessing Microsoft is certainly making headway on the application, but that it’s also trying to hedge expectations ahead of the official launch.
