Microsoft’s latest Office productivity suite for Windows will make its debut next month, according to a new report. Office 2016 is already available for Mac, and the Windows version is expected to adopt the same “colorful” theme.
Office 2016 will be available to both home and professional Windows users on September 22, claims German blog WinFuture, citing sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans. It won’t be vastly different to the existing version, but it will boast new themes that match those in the Mac and mobile versions.
Outlook users can also expect improvements to search, attachment handling, and email delivery — while Word and Excel users can look forward to better image insertion. Word 2016 will also bring real-time co-authoring, which allows multiple people to view and edit a document simultaneously.
There will also be a dark theme “for those who dislike the traditional look of Microsoft’s Office apps,” reports The Verge.
Microsoft is yet to confirm the September 22 launch date, but final versions of Office 2016 are said to be in internal testing already, which suggests the launch is close.
