Microsoft Office finally makes its way to the Windows Store

To coincide with the release of the Surface Laptop, Microsoft has today uploaded its entire suite of Office applications — Access, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher and Word — to the Windows Store.

There are some limitations in place, though: you’ll only be able to install 32-bit versions of Office through the Windows Store, and COM add-ons currently aren’t supported.

While Microsoft has listed Office on the Store in the past, this release marks the first time the firm has allowed customers to download and update applications without having to use a standalone installer.

“Making Office available in the Windows Store allows people with Surface devices running Windows 10 S to get the Office applications that they know and trust,” explains Microsoft.

You’ll need an active Office 365 subscription to access the suite

Once you’ve downloaded the suite from the Windows Store, you’ll need to purchase an Office 365 subscription, which start at $6.99 per month, to begin using it.
